Aronia berries (Aronia melanocarpa) have been the subject of dozens of peer-reviewed studies published in journals indexed by the National Institutes of Health (PubMed). Below are key findings from human clinical trials and meta-analyses β the gold standard of nutritional research.
A meta-analysis of controlled clinical trials found that daily aronia supplementation for 6β8 weeks significantly reduced systolic blood pressure and total cholesterol β key risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Effects were most pronounced in adults over age 50.
